Mile: 1995.1 to 2017.4 (22.3)
up/down: 4100/2500
Two thousand miles... Even after walking all of them it's hard to believe. But we passed a hiker made marker in the dirt and my Halfmile app said the same so it must be true.
Two volcanoes were the order of the day. First up was Three Finger Jack which we climbed a good amount toward the summit as we traversed the west side. We walked through miles of burned trees today which helped with the views occasionally. Water was a problem all day with sources at 13 and 17 miles, the first a warm but clear water mosquito pond, the second a small lake. As we needed more than 17 miles a water haul at the end of the day (again) was necessary. We are definitely getting tired of long water hauls and thought we'd be done with them by now.
Our second volcano is Mt. Jefferson. We made it most of the way to it and pulled in at a campsite with fantastic views. We'll tackle the rest of that beast tomorrow.
Hello to both of you, enjoy dropping in on your blog. Amazing views! What a way to start retirement.

Congratulations on 2k! What an accomplishment! Priscilla
ReplyDeleteThat picture of you and 2K. And what was the first thing that came to my mind? ...Forrest Gump! Then I started looking for famous Forrest quotes but nothing really seemed to fit. Except "imagine that, magic legs, you got magic legs" which does fit. And you're starting to look like him of course.... Nice job. Seems you two are on the home stretch.
ReplyDeleteHa! Starting to feel like old Forrest too!
DeleteBravo, congrats, kudos, etc
ReplyDeleteThanks all!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you both. Can't wait to see you next month.
ReplyDeleteLoving your volcano tour! What a stunning view at your campsite. Looks like 3 Finger Jack is decorated with fields of flowers.
ReplyDeleteMt Jefferson has glaciers on it! Wowsers!
