Super Bloom Part 4 -- Another Short Canyon

A big thanks to our friend Denise for this one.  She sent us a couple texts telling us it was nice, then she told us go now.  As is usually the case, we were in Utah at the time.  Based on her recommendation after our Utah trip we went directly home and were out at Short Canyon the next day.  It was so amazing we went four times over the course of a week, two of those times taking friends -- Tom and Liga, and Rosie and Chris with us.

Onyx Peak is on the far left, our goal for the first trip we made.

Our second trip was made the day after our first as we discovered many evening snow, which were already closed by the time we arrived.  We spent the second morning enjoying them before we headed back to the ridge and explored a bit more of the bloom.

Cream Cups, I love their foliage.

Our third trip was made when our trip to Carrizo became so windy we headed for home.  We promised our friends Tom and Liga that the flowers would be lovely.  They weren't disappointed.  As an added bonus we got them their Kern County Rufous-crowned Sparrow

Our fourth trip was the day after Tom and Liga, when Chris and Rosie came down and wanted to see some flowers.  While it was getting rather faded, there were still patches of loveliness.

  1. Thank you so very much for the photos. Wowsers!!
I tried several times to get to Kelso Valley to see them in person, but circumstances did not permit it.
Your photos also show places on your hike that I wouldn't have seen.
