We have been avoiding the South Lake area this year. The scrum of humanity coupled with the road construction is just a bit too much. We decided to brave it today, as it was Sunday, and while humanity would be out in force, the road destruction team had the day off. We got an early start and saw many lovely flowers. In fact, we seemed to have hit the peak of flowers. The flowers were a delight and by a judicious start time and route, we managed to have most of the canyon to ourselves.
