Inyo Mountain Flowers and Sierra Views

We planned a hiking week in the Sierra.  There is 200% of normal snowpack.  We didn't hike in the Sierra as much as we originally intended.  Not only was there snow, there was high winds.  Oh bother.  We made plans with Hikin' Bill to do a car shuttle in the Inyos instead.  Bill had hiked a bit of the first and end parts of our route.  He disparaged it.  Turns out the middle part had incredible views, and we had a bonus of flowers.  Lots of flowers.  It is a lovely spring time walk.  Even Bill agreed.

Primrose

Phlox

Onion

Penstemon

Lupine

A very tiny lupine.

Mt Nunn and Deep Springs Lake

Flax

Apricot Mallow

It was steep coming down

  1. Wow! Your photo of the cloud bank with the mts. in the background is spectacular!
The flowers colors are so intense and gorgeous. I love seeing penstemons in their native habitat. The cactus in the rock shale - what a show of life.!
    Thank you, Susan.

  2. You must have one fantastic lens (and skill sets) to get a plant in focus that is within a few feet of the camera, then have a background of spectacular peaks in perfect focus in the distance. Wow.
