Bob and I last did this hike five years ago. It is an off trail route past Lamarck Lake that goes by several seldom visited lakes. Even though the round trip distance is only about nine miles, the hike usually takes most of the day as there is both elevation gain, 2900', and route finding involved.
While the temperature was in the high 40's and the sun was shining, it felt cold. Winter is coming and snow still remains at the upper elevations. A short hiking season is drawing to a close.
