Ethiopia - The Rift Valley Lakes

Volcanic Lake Bishoftu
We started the second leg of our adventure in Addis Ababa moving south into the Rift Valley to visit a number of the many fresh water lakes. Some are shallow and quite large, others are collapsed volcanic craters - small and deep. Our first day ended at Lake Langano where we birded the lake edge and surrounding forest for the next full day. The birding here so far has been exceptional, with 133 species on the first day and 119 on the second (47 new). WiFi here is slow and limited, so this post will have to be short. We move on to the high mountains tomorrow.
