Into the Outback

As we continue to move north the towns get farther apart. We left Deliliquin and passed through Hillston, Cobar, and are now in Bourke, the edge of the outback. The scenery hasn't been all that exciting - mostly flat mallee and other dry eucalypt woodlands. But the birding has been excellent. As this is a birding and not photography trip, I really don't have a lot of opportunity for images. But there have been a few so here are some examples to share. The Ground Cuckoo-shrike and Red-lored Whistler are very difficult to see, among the most difficult in Australia. The scenery should get more interesting as we move farther into the outback.
